Upgrade Guide

VRS Upgrade Guide from 14.12.0 to 14.12.1

✨ New in VRS 14.12.1

This patch builds on VRS 14.12.0. It focuses on recording reliability, Media Recordings usability, archival playback accuracy, offline-friendly UI assets, and clearer on-screen feedback.

Media Recordings

Feature(s)

Description

EFCX Agent Name dropdown

On EFCX, Agent Name in the Media Recordings advanced filter was previously free text with no agent dropdown. From 14.12.1 it is a dropdown so users can find and select an agent name. Cisco Agent Name remains free-text.

Archival and playback

Feature(s)

Description

Multi-leg archival — correct audio per leg

Archival stamps each uploaded file with its own archive path. Playback prefers that stamp (basename must match the requested leg) so sibling legs cannot play each other’s archived audio after local files are removed.

Platform

Feature(s)

Description

Local Material Icons (no Google CDN)

Material Icons fonts are bundled under application assets. The UI no longer depends on fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com, so icons render on offline or LAN-only deployments.

Login account lockout (Keycloak Brute Force Detection)

After too many wrong passwords, Keycloak can temporarily lock the account. VRS shows Account is locked. Try again later. when the account is locked, and Invalid username and/or password otherwise. Same behavior on Cisco and EFCX when Brute Force Detection is enabled on the realm used for VRS login. Admins unlock in Keycloak (Temporarily locked Off and Enabled On).

Cisco linking reliability

Feature(s)

Description

JTAPI linking indexes, retries, and recovery

Schema indexes for Mixed_Sessions / call_events lookup columns; JTAPI deadlock retries with backoff; periodic late re-link for orphan rows; warm-start of in-memory call state after JTAPI restart. Reduces recordings that stay unlinked (correlation_id 0, missing JTAPI / direction).

Improvements

Improvement

Description

UI feedback improvements

Clearer on-screen status for WAV/MP3 download (WAV downloading… / MP3 downloading…) and clearer login messages that distinguish invalid credentials from a temporary account lock.

Release Test Highlights

Tested With

  • This release has been tested with Cisco CUCM version 12.5, Cisco UCCE 12.6.2, Cisco UCCX 15, and EFCX 5.13 (general recording and Media Recordings flows for EFCX). The Operations Dashboard and call tagging apply to Cisco only. They are not available on EFCX.

  • The solution has been tested with the MSSQL database and with PostgreSQL 14+.

  • For Cisco deployment, Cisco Jabber (v15.2.3.61008) devices are configured as agent phones.

  • Calls have been tested using real mobile devices, routing through Cisco Finesse.

  • On Cisco UCCE and UCCX, testing covered normal inbound/outbound calls as well as transfer, conference, and supervisor monitor/barge-in recording behavior, in addition to Media Recordings search/playback flows.

  • The VRS Web Application has been tested on Google Chrome (v152.0.x).

Not tested with

  • The solution has not been tested with SQL databases other than MSSQL and PostgreSQL.

  • High Availability (HA) deployment is not tested in this version.

  • Calls have not been tested with Cisco IPC phones.

  • Load testing has not been conducted for VRS.
